Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about bicycle journeys, route choices, wayfinding, travel habits and the objects or customs that shape cycling. Strong contributions make one clear point, give readers useful context and leave room for different circumstances.

What makes a good pitch

Send a short description of the proposed piece, the question it will answer and why it suits United Cycling Journal. Tell us the intended reader and the main idea or takeaway. A strong pitch has a distinct angle, avoids repeating familiar general advice and can be useful without relying on unverified numbers, sweeping claims or hazardous instructions.

The kind of work we seek

We are interested in clear explainers, thoughtful comparisons, cultural and historical context, myth-checking and carefully shaped guides to ordinary riding occasions. We value precise language, a patient pace and concrete details that help readers understand a choice. We do not seek pieces that require readers to undertake safety-critical repairs or rely on local rules presented as universal.

How to propose a piece

Use the Contact page to send your proposal and select the editorial question option. Include a working title, a brief outline and any relevant writing sample or background information you choose to share. Please send a pitch rather than a finished article unless we have agreed otherwise.
